Vorbeck is a nontraditional defense contractor renowned for innovative graphene products and integrating graphene into high performance, low-weight Radio Frequency (RF) systems. We repeatedly and successfully integrate our antennas with transmit and receive systems in manned aircraft as well as Group 2 and/or Group 3 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The dominating feature of Vorbeck’s graphene-based antennas is their near-zero weight. This is not an exaggeration; materials used to mount the antenna elements and cables used to extract signals are the only significant contributors of weight to our products; even our larger UHF antenna elements weigh less than an ounce. In addition, thanks to graphene’s flexible manufacturing capabilities, Vorbeck can develop antennas that are impossible to build with traditional methods. The weight savings that come from using graphene antennas translate into longer UAS flight time. The low-drag coefficients that come with our ultra-thin, conformal, additively manufactured antennas and arrays offer even more UAS duration or speed. Vorbeck is currently expanding production from our Jessup MD headquarters into a large-scale facility in Grand Forks, ND. This new larger, facility will enable all of our graphene-based products to be fully manufactured at scale, with all processes optimized for cost, reliability, and sustainability. Vorbeck can commercialize our lightweight, graphene-based antennas for use in Intelligence Community, DoD and commercial UAVs as well as civil UAVs or automotive radar guidance systems. Vorbeck’s flight-tested, ultra-light weight, graphene-based radiating elements offer zero-drag conformal array options for high-gain directional antennas on Group 2 or 3 UAS. Vorbeck’s expanding relationship with the University of North Dakota (UND) and the UND Research Institute for Autonomous Studies is aiding our development of additional operations concepts for Group 3 UAS firefighting and precision agriculture applications. Vorbeck has an extensive intellectual property portfolio, with over 100 granted or exclusively licensed patents and over a dozen more on file. Vorbeck’s IP covers technologies including methods for the manufacture of graphene, formulations of graphene-based conductive inks and coatings, printed electronic components made with graphene inks, electro-magnetic attack shielding structures, and complete communications and sensing systems.
