The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced that Freefly Systems’ Alta X has officially achieved Green UAS certification, joining a growing roster of vetted, secure drone platforms available for government and enterprise use.The Alta X’s certification highlights the continued expansion of the Green UAS program and reinforces the urgent need for the federal government to formally adopt Green UAS certified platforms and enable their use across federal agencies.“Freefly’s Alta X is a trusted, widely used platform across public safety, utilities, and federal operations,” said Casie Ocana, VP of Public Affairs at AUVSI. “Its Green UAS certification not only reinforces its ongoing compliance with cybersecurity, supply chain, and NDAA standards, it also reflects the growing industry momentum behind building a robust, trusted list of secure UAS options for critical missions.”The Green UAS program, developed in coordination with the DIU and modeled after the Blue UAS program, provides a consistent vetting process for drone platforms to demonstrate security and compliance. Certification enables non-DoD entities, including state and local governments, critical infrastructure providers, and commercial operators, to procure trusted drones that meet the highest level of security requirements.With the Alta X and other high-performance platforms certified through Green UAS, the path is clear for federal agencies to support current users and expand adoption. However, without GSA listing and formal recognition, even secure, compliant systems risk becoming unavailable to government customers who rely on them today.“As procurement requirements continue to evolve, our priority is ensuring that the agencies and organizations already relying on the Alta X can continue to access and deploy the platform without disruption,” Matt Isenbarger, Chief Revenue Officer at Freefly Systems. “Transitioning from Blue UAS to Green UAS certification gives our customers a clear, vetted path forward—but that only works if federal procurement pathways, like the GSA schedule, align with these updated standards. Our users—whether in public safety, infrastructure, or federal operations—can’t afford uncertainty when it comes to critical tools like the Alta X.”As the Green UAS cleared list grows, so does the opportunity to modernize federal drone procurement with a broader range of innovative, secure solutions. AUVSI continues to call for the integration of Green UAS into federal acquisition channels, including GSA and relevant agency purchasing policies, to ensure continuity and resilience in public sector uncrewed systems operations.
