Red Cat Holdings has unveiled Hellcat, a new small unmanned aircraft system designed for military, security and allied government customers, expanding its portfolio of tactical drone solutions.The company announced the launch Monday in conjunction with Eurosatory 2026, a major international defense exhibition in Paris that brings together military leaders, government procurement officials and defense contractors from around the world.Hellcat is based on Red Cat’s existing Black Widow drone platform, which was originally developed to meet the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance requirements. The new system incorporates operational feedback from military users and lessons learned through the company's collaboration with Ukrainian drone operators.According to Red Cat, Hellcat is designed to provide greater flexibility for international customers by supporting customizable command-and-control systems, payloads and software configurations. The drone follows Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) principles, allowing users to adapt the platform to changing mission requirements and integrate it with a variety of defense systems.Chief Executive Officer Jeff Thompson said the platform was developed with direct input from operators in active operational environments and reflects the rapid evolution of small drone warfare.The drone's standard configuration includes the ability to operate in GPS-denied environments, a GPS-independent recovery capability, support for Red Cat’s WEB Standoff Radio system, and a rugged design that can be repaired in the field and transported in a backpack.Hellcat offers more than 50 minutes of flight time and a range of up to 6.8 miles (11 kilometers) while maintaining operator line-of-sight. It can also be equipped with Red Cat’s Ocellus three-camera payload for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.The new platform joins Red Cat’s broader family of unmanned systems, which includes aerial, maritime and autonomous technologies designed for defense and national security applications. The company said the systems are intended to improve situational awareness, operational effectiveness and mission safety for military and government users.
