Echodyne selected as radar Provider for Air Force counter-drone program

Echodyne has been named the radar provider for Trust Automation’s counter-drone systems under a $490 million U.S. Air Force contract. The company’s EchoShield radar will be integrated across multiple deployable and fixed-site air defense platforms designed to counter small unmanned aircraft.

Echodyne and Moog demonstrated an AI-enabled counter-drone defense system during a U.S. Army exercise in Texas. The companies said the integrated platform successfully detected and engaged small drone threats in less than three seconds using existing military weapon systems upgraded with radar and AI technologies.

Echodyne is investing $40 million in an 86,350‑square‑foot manufacturing facility in Washington State, expanding production capacity to more than 30,000 radars annually. The company expects to begin production in summer 2026 and hire more than 200 employees as it scales to meet increasing global demand for its MESA radar technology.

Echodyne has partnered with Poland’s Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology to integrate its counter-drone radar technology into unmanned ground vehicles. Working alongside distribution partner Linc Polska, the collaboration aims to demonstrate C-UAS radar capabilities for both civil and military applications. The effort supports broader modernization of land systems with high-fidelity situational awareness solutions.

Digital Force Technologies has selected Echodyne’s EchoShield and EchoGuard radars as core sensors for its Seraphim Counter-UAS family, enhancing detection and tracking of UAS threats. The integration supports the U.S. Marine Corps TERAPIN project, advancing all-domain autonomous defense and situational awareness capabilities.

Echodyne, the radar platform company, announced the immediate availability of the Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK) for its market-leading metamaterials electronically scanned array EchoShield radar. EchoShield is a software-defined, multi-mission, multi-domain, multi-modal radar with exceptional accuracy and advanced AI-based classification in increasingly high demand for air domain awareness and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) solutions.

Echodyne has been selected as the radar provider for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Project Land 156, a major counter-drone initiative led by Leidos Australia. Echodyne will deliver high-fidelity detection and tracking capabilities to strengthen the ADF’s defense against evolving unmanned aerial threats.

The partnership will integrate BRINC’s cutting-edge Drone as First Responder solution with Echodyne’s ground-based radars to enable a path toward Beyond Visual Line of Site (BVLOS) operations without Visual Observers.

Echodyne announced its EchoFlight radar is integrated into the American Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (AATI) AiRanger aircraft, which obtained a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) last week for commercial Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) flight operations.

Echodyne, the radar platform company, is setting the stage to enhance its influence across the European defense and security sectors by participating in the Counter UAS Technology Europe 2024 at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in London on April 16-17, 2024. At the conference, Leo McCloskey, Echodyne's VP of Marketing, will host a presentation on important counter-UAS (C-UAS) developments in accuracy and mobility.
