Federal restrictions prohibiting the use of certain foreign-manufactured drones on federal and federally assisted projects took effect Dec. 22, 2025. The rules, implemented under the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, bar contractors and funding recipients from operating or purchasing covered unmanned aircraft systems with federal funds.
