Packet Digital announced that it has been awarded an additional contract by the U.S. Navy to continue its development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) smart batteries, chargers, and power systems. The contract was awarded as a follow-up to the $8.5 million contract received in December 2022 from the Navy as it sought a standardized battery solution for its UAS fleet to handle ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore missions.

Packet Digital announced it has been awarded an additional $7.2 million as part of its contract with the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) to build space power solutions. After successfully completing an initial $8-million contract with AFRL in which Packet Digital built a high-powered SmallSat power converter with a 98% efficiency, the follow-on contract was awarded.

Packet Digital officially secured the location for its future battery cell plant in Fargo, North Dakota. With the location and building in place, Packet Digital will begin construction on the facility and begin acquiring the equipment needed to manufacture its highly reliable, high-performance drone battery cells right here in the United States.
