General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) achieved a major milestone in the development of Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs) by flying U.S. government-provided autonomy software aboard a company-owned MQ-20 Avenger®. The demonstration was part of the Air Force Test Center’s all-domain test series called Orange Flag 25-1, which took place February 19-21 at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
uAvionix announced the launch of Casia G Release 4.0, a software update that enables nighttime detection of aircraft and expands Casia G’s capabilities to support 24/7 Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) UAS operations. With the software enhancement, Casia G unlocks BVLOS operations up to 400 feet at night. Casia G’s nighttime capability has already received an approval from the FAA for Fort Wayne Police Department, IN.
Volatus Aerospace Inc. and Draganfly Inc. announced a collaboration to address global demand for the automation and digitization of geospatial data collection and analysis solutions for Utility Infrastructure. This teaming agreement builds on the previously announced collaboration agreement, harnessing Volatus’ operational and regulatory capabilities, advanced sensor technology and Draganfly's advanced product, engineering, and integration capabilities.
The University of North Dakota Center for Innovation announced three $50,000 awards — one to each of three companies, for $150,000 in total — for Project RuralReach, an initiative designed to harness unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology to revolutionize rural living, enhance economic resilience and support rural communities across North Dakota.
Pierce Aerospace announced that it was granted an award from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) as a follow-on effort in support of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Alliance for System Safety of UAS Through Research Excellence (ASSURE). Pierce Aerospace also announced that it has detected 100 Million Remote ID transmissions since it began the initial effort with ERAU.
