Toronto-based Industrial SkyWorks—specialists in drone inspection and data management software—has released an update for its BluVu platform, which features web-based portal support.

BluVu enables the remote inspection of buildings, pipelines and other oil and gas industry infrastructure. The latest version provides users with information on the exact location, size and severity of problems that drones detect during inspections.

Industrial SkyWorks’ drone inspection technology enables businesses throughout North America and the Caribbean Islands to review their drone data and perform inspections from their desktops. Inspections can be carried out safely and problems can be spotted earlier at lower costs.

"Today's drone inspections tools allow users to visually detect a problem, but BlueVu allows for a greater understanding of the asset problems by enabling the user to measure at inspection-grade accuracy, directly within 2D photographs,” said Michael Cohen, Industrial Skyworks CEO. Knowing the size and severity of problems is now possible, he added.

The Industrial Skyworks team includes artificial intelligence and computer vision experts, pilots, unmanned aircraft operators and business leaders who provide a client-centered focus to projects.

Some of the key capabilities of the new software from Industrial Skyworks include:

-Fast and intelligent organizing and sorting of thousands of UAV images

- Automatic report generation with inspection statistics, visual and vectorized inspection results

- Project management function support

- Efficient tracking and control of inspection workflows

- Anomaly identification and measurement

- Results exportable into GIS and CAD formats
