ePropelled opened its new global innovation centre in Coventry on March 20, a major expansion that supports the company's plan to scale production beyond one million propulsion systems annually by 2027. The development positions the United Kingdom at the heart of ePropelled's global growth strategy and strengthens capability in electric and hybrid propulsion, high-efficiency motors and intelligent energy management systems. Members of Parliament, industry leaders, prime contractors, investors and international partners attended the launch.Nick Grewal, founder, chair and CEO, said the company currently produces around 100,000 to 150,000 systems per year and intends to exceed one million systems annually by 2027. "That is the scale required for sovereign capability, affordability and global competitiveness," he said. "Our Midlands-based global innovation centre is a critical step in that journey."CFO Henry Sullivan highlighted the region's engineering heritage — from the first automated traffic lights to the Coventry Climax engine and the first multi-city 5G testbed — as key to accessing top engineering talent. "This is where the next generation of electric and hybrid propulsion systems will be engineered," he said.Mary Creagh, MP for Coventry East, said ePropelled's investment would create skilled jobs and strengthen the city's industrial ecosystem. "Coventry's deep engineering heritage has kept us at the heart of UK manufacturing for more than a century," she said.The company's product suite is built on a proprietary unified architecture and includes motors and controllers for lightweight and high-power UAVs, such as the Sparrow series, the Falcon range and the Hercules hybrid starter generator systems. ePropelled holds 36 patents in advanced magnetics, electric drive and energy management. The company is also developing AI and connected solutions, including ePConnect, an integrated on-board service manager and telemetry platform for uncrewed air, ground and marine applications.ePropelled partners with Germany-based Hirth Engines on hybrid propulsion solutions combining lightweight two-stroke engines with intelligent electric power systems. The company operates globally with support from operations in India and the United States, serving customers across Europe, North America and Asia.Independent forecasts project the global unmanned systems market will grow from around $26.6 billion in 2024 to an estimated $48.3 billion by 2030.
